The story behind the tiles — and why teaching Mahjong is my favorite thing in the world.
Hi, I'm Dina!
I'm Dina, the founder of Tampa Mahj Collective. By day, I'm a full-time pharmacist, but in 2026, as a recent empty nester, I decided it was time to do something just for fun — and that led me to mahjong.
I took my first lesson in January 2026. What started as curiosity quickly turned into a passion for the game, the strategy behind it, and, most importantly, the community it creates.
Why I teach: I teach mahjong because I believe it's more than just a game — it's a way to connect with others, challenge your mind, and create lasting friendships. I quickly fell in love with the sense of community it brings and wanted to share that experience with others.
My teaching philosophy: we learn by playing confidently, we celebrate every small win, and we always keep it social. My goal is to create a welcoming space where people can learn, connect, and have fun — one tile at a time.
